PNDT Act prohibits determination of sex before birth and selective female
feticide. Director, Family Welfare is the Appropriate Authority for implementation
of PNDT Act at state level with 10 other appropriate authorities at District
Level. As per Act, it is mandatory for all places/ persons/bodies by what
so ever name called, doing Genetic Counseling/ tests/ having scanners/
Echo machine/Ultra sounds, capable of detecting sex of fetus to be registered
with District Appropriate Authority. User (Pregnant women)/Relatives of
User/Doctor found violating the Act is Punishable under the Act. Under
the Act no body is allowed to advertise/ do pre sex determination/ do
abortion for the purpose of female feticide. Type of clinic that should
be registered for the purpose of PNDT Act are:
- Genetic Counseling
center
- Genetic Laboratory
- Genetic clinic
Application Form for registration
and draft of affidavit are available with the District Appropriate Authority.

the form of Demand Draft, payable to District Appropriate Authority, Delhi.
