Exhibition on bhagidari
initiatives
Since the inception of
Bhagidari seven years back, the citizen groups of Delhi have a long list
of achievements to their credit. ‘Citizen-Government Partnership:
Bhagidari’ has grown up from a modest beginning of 20 citizen groups in
the year 2000 to more than 2000 citizen groups at present. They have worked
in diverse areas to improve living conditions of people in their colonies
and localities
like:

Rain water harvesting

Segregation and
management of wastes

Development of parks and
roundabouts in the colony

Collection of bills
through Cheque Drop boxes
-
Management of effective
and efficient distribution of drinking water.

Strengthening of internal
security of the colony

Maintenance of Street Lights
-
Active participation in
the Health camps and Disaster Management drills.
-
Improving the academic,
infrastructural and other facilities in Government schools with community
participation through Vidyalaya Kalyan Samities.

Greening and plantation
of city and generation of mass awareness on environmental issues through
1600 Eco-clubs.
-
Empowerment of more than
2 lacs women through more than 200 "Stree Shakti" Camps.

Care for senior citizens
and formation of Senior Citizen’s Council

Social audit of public
services
-
Release of First Delhi Human Development
Report 2006
-
Involvement and
contribution of citizens in policy formulation like Power Sector Reforms,
House Tax Reforms, Public Transport Policy and the Delhi Right to
Information Act, 2001.

The Delhi Police in
collaboration with citizens groups has implemented neighborhood watch
schemes, antecedent verification of tenants and domestic workers and
traffic regulation

Preparation for Common Wealth Games-2010.
Bhagidars will put up their
achievements before more than 15,000 visitors/Participants on this occasion through
modules, posters and other innovative means. Separate stalls have been
erected for each district where the citizen groups will showcase their
achievements under the supervision and guidance of the respective Deputy Commissioners (Revenue).
The Government departments
associated with the Bhagidari will also put up their initiatives before
the gathering in the separate stalls. The following departments are
